The Return of Mouthwatering Monday!

Everyone needs a stylish dish to eat their mouthwatering treats out of, so I browsed around for some funky feeders with style! The colorful trio on top were found at OhMyDogSupplies where they sell many types of dishes and bowls among other things, but these boisterous three caught my eye :) The second, sleek pair are great for the minimalist at heart! And I love this hip set of bowls found at Trendy Pet!

I know I've been slacking...

A Clean House

I've been letting a lot of things go this month. We've been busy around here, as I'm sure many of you have been this summer as well. That's what summer is for after all! We've made a few weekend trips to visit family, and were fortunate to spend a week on Martha's Vineyard with family and friends too...so we've been squeezing some fun in with our work. I must admit to being a bit neglectful of a few chores around the house in order to go to the park and swim with my little man, or soak my feet in the backyard kiddy pool (while eating frozen yogurt), or weed and tend to the garden. And I've obviously been a slacker here on my blog as well. But! I have been working on some very exciting new collars and bags that will be making their big debut very soon. Which means I haven't been a TOTAL slacker, right?

I've got to make this post quick (if it's going to get posted at all) so that I can finally go scrub that bathtub of mine. Seriously. It really needs it!

Congratulations Chester Scotties!!

Chester Scotties wins the Scottie Dog Bag! How appropriate!Congratulations!

Here is what Chester has to say about her favorite scotties:

My two favorite Scotties are Aspri and Mavri, our wheaten and black girls. They are the light of my life with their funny little fey Scottie ways. Aspri protects the house and yard - she's always on duty and takes her job very seriously. Squirrels, birds, kids on bikes, strangers - BEWARE! :) And Mavri is our playful girl - she carries her little red ball everywhere and begs all who cross her path to play with her. These two dogs bring me back from the brink of depression almost every day when I get home from the daily grind and they are waiting to lavish me with kisses and tempt me with their toys. These are the first Scotties we've ever had, and we love them more each day.
Hey! Thanks for giving me a chance to run on about my two braw little loves!

Sounds like it was love at first bark! Congrats Chester Scotties!
Thank you to all who participated! Next Wednesday there will be another fabulous giveaway, so stay tuned!

Mouthwatering Monday!

Abby has been having a hard time coming when she is told, so I thought I should have some treats around so she would have more of an incentive. Well today I thought, why not just make some of my own! I found a nice recipe for dog biscuits on allrecipes.com believe it or not! A lovely little site I love to visit for ideas on dinner for my family. Not only do they have great recipes for humans, but for dogs too! As soon as these cute little bone biscuits came out of the oven, Abby and Dewey were going ballistic. Just the smell was tantalizing enough! Once they were cooled I let them each try one and I wasn't even able to get a good picture of them munching on one because they snapped them up so quickly. They're a hit at my house, try them out and I'm sure they will be at yours too!

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup margarine
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
DIRECTIONS
  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). In a large bowl, combine rolled oats, margarine, and boiling water. Let stand 10 minutes. Grease cookie sheets.
  • Thoroughly stir in cornmeal, sugar, bouillon, milk, Cheddar cheese, and egg. Mix in flour, 1 cup at a time, until a stiff dough has formed.
  • Knead dough on a lightly floured surface, mixing in additional flour as necessary until dough is smooth and no longer sticky. Roll or pat out dough to 1/2" thickness. Cut with cookie cutter (I prefer bone shaped), and place 1 inch apart onto the prepared cookie sheets.
  • Bake 35 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown. Cool before serving. Store in a loosely covered container.

  • Notice Abby in the background? She could tell something good was on it's way!

    Ready for the oven!

    Summer Fun

Here is Abby regally showing off her new Classic Hound tag collar and brand new tags! Red becomes her, don't you think? Abby is sporting a 'Whippet Real Good' and a solitary 'A' for Abby. :)

And I couldn't resist mentioning this little adventure! Rowan and I went out for a walk and he announced that he spotted a 'Bug!' on our front lawn. Upon closer inspection, we found that our bug was a cicada. Rowan called him 'Cayduh'. We decided to release Cayduh back into the wild after a few hours, but before doing so, we snapped a few photos! The cicadas have come and we can hear their humming while the sun shines, summer is truly here!
