Whale of a Treat! Crispy Whale Cheddars!

Ahoy Mateys! We've found another dog treat keeper her at Classic Hound Headquarters! This time, I turned to Allrecipes for a little inspiration. As you can see the doggies LOVED them. Abby will snatch up these whale sized treats gently in her mouth, and cleverly hides them somewhere safe until she can get to them later. It's like these little whales are her puppies she fusses over them so.

Recipe notes: I used Better than Bullion instead of beef bullion and substituted honey for the white sugar.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup margarine
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). In a large bowl, combine rolled oats, margarine, and boiling water. Let stand 10 minutes. Grease cookie sheets.
  2. Thoroughly stir in cornmeal, sugar, bouillon, milk, Cheddar cheese, and egg. Mix in flour, 1 cup at a time, until a stiff dough has formed.
  3. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface, mixing in additional flour as necessary until dough is smooth and no longer sticky. Roll or pat out dough to 1/2" thickness. Cut with cookie cutter (I prefer bone shaped), and place 1 inch apart onto the prepared cookie sheets.
  4. Bake 35 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown. Cool before serving. Store in a loosely covered container.

Banana Biscotti Bunnies

Photobucket

Perhaps the Easter bunny shouldn't come to our house this year. Abby & Dewey are crunching it up here on these yummy Banana Biscotti Bunnies. We all know how doggies like to chase rabbits, I'm not sure that any rabbit (or hare for that matter) would escape from my two dogs at the moment. These crunchy treats are a hit!

Banana Biscotti Bunnies

4 cups flour
1/2 cup peanuts, chopped

*water (about 5 Tablespoons)

Preheat oven to 325F.

Place dry ingredients in large bowl. Make a well in the center.

Blend egg, oil and banana together. Add into the dry ingredinets in well. Start combining together. Add water, one teaspoon at a time as needed. Knead by hand on table until mixed thoroughly.

$5 off Black Licorice Leash!

Photobucket

Whoa. Did you guys know about this? That black licorice has a national day that celebrates this delightful treat? A big thanks to CafeFreeFibers for not only featuring our Black Licorice leash in her treasury, but for educating me about this little known "holiday". Black licorice is one of my all time favorite candies. Ever.

If Licorice International can offer tours and free samples to the public throughout the entire month of April, then we can offer our Black Licorice leash for only $25 for the rest of the week! No code necessary, the price is automatically reduced. Celebrate black licorice with me!!!

Meanwhile, I'm thinking that soap looks like heaven and those votive candles look like a must have too!

A Classic Hound First!

New 1" wide collar designs with new custom options!
Options that only apply to our 1" wide collars.

More specifically, you can opt out of cuddleskin lining if you wish. While a lot of doggies need that extra soft barrier to protect their sensitive necks, a lot of doggies don't. So now you have the option to substitute a super soft and strong nylon webbing over the cuddleskin wrapped polypropylene. Again this option is only available to these 1" wide collar designs.

We love our new Riding Hood Collars!
